Sports Centers
Each ward (区) has a public sports center. These centers have good facilities at very reasonable prices. 300円 per visit, 1000円 for 5 visits, or 2000円 1600円 for unlimited use in a month. Some centers have pools (500円 per visit) or 4000円 for unlimited use for 1 month.
Working Out
- Nagoya University students can go to a free gym, equipped with well conserved machines for most muscle groups, as well as a fine locker area and shower. You need to bring indoor shoes.
The gym is located near International Residence, and since its a steep up hill, you go there if you are really considering working out!
Pools
- Nagoya University has an indoor pool free for student use on certain days. Bring your student ID and a towel.
Outdoor Sports

Running
- If you are interested in racing Runnet has lots of race listings. (Japanese only)
- Nagoya City hosts a marathon every year in the fall. You can visit their page (Japanese only) or pickup a race application at many places around town including convience stores, post offices, and sports centers. The race is 1/2 marathon, 10k, or 4k.
- The Nagoya Hash House Harriers is the local branch of the international running club. They describe themselves as "drinkers with a running problem." They have local runs about twice a month followed by lots of adult beverages. Events conducted in English and Japanese.

- Japan has some very fun places to road and mountain bike.

- Hokkaido is a great place to bicycle and camp around during the summer. You can get around for as little as 1,500 yen per day.
