- To check prices of many goods online check out Kakaku.com (Japanese only).
- To compare prices with those in the US check Pricewatch. Many of those vendors will ship to Japan. This can be a good way to get English versions of computers.
Imported Items
- Can't find something from your home country? For a price expat express and The flying pig will ship you many different items.
- There is a good asian market near Shinsake? station. Someone add the name and location. It has a variety of goods from southeast Asia.
- There are a few import supermarkets in the Osu shopping area. Add details someone.
- Meidia-ya in Sakae has imported goods but has somewhat expensive prices. It is about here.
- I hear there is an international supermarket near the Nagoya International Center. Someone add details.
Produce 野菜・果物
- Students report that Tachiya has very good prices on produce. One Tachiya shop is located near campus. You can find all their shops here (Japanese only)
- The basement floor in the hoshigaoka Mitsukoshi surprisingly often has very good prices on high quality produce.
Electronics and used goods
- Osu-kannon has lots of electronic shops and used goods shops. You can get there on the blue subway line, you can get off at either the osu kannon or kamimaezu stations.

- Amazon Japan has limited services in English.
- To compare prices at Amazon stores in different countries check out pricenoia.
Japanese Items
- There is a shop in Osu-kannon in the main shopping area that carries a wide selection of Japanese items (paintings, pottery, wind chimes, etc)
- Shin mei dou (新名堂) is a small sword shop in the shopping area below Nagoya Station run by an old couple. They sell original Japanese swords from the Edo period (plan on spending lots of yen) plus handmade practice swords from Seki-shi. They enjoy showing off their goods.
